Peter Bradshaw aka: BAD-shaw; mystery man The official Embrocation clothing model, Mr. Bradshaw always makes it look good. He owns and operates Marathon Courier, a bike messenger service in Boston when he’s not racing. When he is racing, he’s an all-rounder who has a solid race resume over the past few years. He also won the World Bike Messenger Championships in 2007, which makes him the only world champion on the team.

Cory Burns aka: Cor Cory Burns joins us from the former Fiordafruitta team, where he was a super-domestique helping the men in the jam jerseys dominate the northeast racing scene for the last few years. He’s a native upstate New Yorker and currently resides in Watertown, NY, which is colder than you could possibly imagine most months of the year. Despite living in such a climate, Cory has been able to find form to win the overall at the Fitchburg stage race and have extremely high placings in several NRC races across the country.

Jay Combs aka: Dale Champagne Jay was raised outside of Philadelphia but has lived in New England for the past 9 years. He had a colossal 2008 racing season which included a stint as the number one ranked cat 3 road racer in the US as well as winning the Fitchburg Longsjo TT and going on to finish 4th in the GC. This past year, Jay was a dominant force in the local crit scene and had a podium finish at the GMSR time trial. Jay works in the fast-pace world of computer technology and is the founder of Dale Champagne Enterprises which has nothing to do with computers.

Jeremy Dunn aka: JD; the Dunner The founder and creative director of Embrocation Cycling Journal, the team owes its very existence to Jeremy’s vision. While he lived for many years amongst us in the Boston area, he recently relocated to the mecca of all things cycling – Portland, OR. When he’s not racing, working on Embrocation or shooting video, Jeremy works as a marketing manager for the illustrious Rapha clothing company.

Steve Francisco aka: Franny Steve Francisco, aka Franny, comes to team Embrocation as a new addition for the 2010 road season. With an impressive list of results over the past couple years, we’re very excited that the rider from Burlington, VT has decided to throw his talents our way. In addition to being quite a fast bicycle racer, Steve is the CEO of JDK Design, a slick design and marketing firm in Burlington. He’s also a committed husband and father – how does he do it?

Cary Fridrich aka: The Mantis Cary tackles more cycling disciplines than most any other Embrocation rider. He is an accomplished road, mountain and cyclocross racer. He is a graduate of Colby College in Maine where he was a Nordic Ski racer and still partakes in this sport in the depths of winter. During the long cycling season, however, he’s a formidable racer in all disciplines.

Eric Goodson Disciplines: Cross Eric joins team Embrocation as a major contributor to our cyclocross efforts during the fall and winter. Teacher by day, pro bicycle mechanic by afternoon, father and husband all the time, it’s hard to believe this guy gets everything done and still has time to sleep, let alone getting some training in.

Josh Gunn aka: Wattage Cottage; The Gattlin-Gunn Josh discovered he was a man early in life, thanks to a collision with his top tube at a very tender age. Since then, he’s been trying to regain his manhood atop the saddle. A recent transplant to Cambridge, MA Josh earned his chamois stripes in the gritty, muddy, and sometimes smelly, Northwest racing scene, where he took the Washington State Champion title as a Cat 3. He comes to the New England scene a Cat 2, and he’s hungry. So stand in front of your refrigerator if you invite him to a party. Josh owns NutIntuit Studio, a small motion graphics firm that’s focused on explaining complex technologies and products to everyday people.

Linnea Koons Disciplines: Mountain, Cross Linnea is one of the newest members of team Embrocation and an off-road specialist. She joins the team as one of our dedicated mountain rider and a solid addition to our cyclocross roster. Linnea is a native New Zealander and the New Zealand national cyclocross champion in 2009. She’s a graduate of Cornell University and has been a fixture in the New England racing scene for the last couple years as part of the October Bikes team.

Chris Laflamme aka: Flamer You’re unlikely to meet a soul with greater intensity on the bike than Chris Laflamme. His sporting acumen is driven by a high degree of self-loathing and rage. Yet off the bike you’ll never meet a more amiable fellow. A native Mainer and graduate of Saint Michael’s College in Vermont, Chris now lives and works in the Portland area where he works in the world of finance by day.

Dan Langois aka: Dan Action Dan was one of the first members of the team when it was founded last year. He was a local New England boy, living in Providence and working for Circle A Cycles until he moved to Philadelphia. He joins us occasionally for races in this area, or to impress all with his totally sweet dance moves.

Perri Mertens Disciplines: Cross The rose amongst thorns; the only woman on the squad, Perri more than holds her own during cross season. She’s a cyclocross veteran who mixes it up with the elite women every weekend and works as a talented graphic designer during the week. Perri has been with Embrocation since the beginning as a racer and consultant on our various website projects.

James Morrison Disciplines: Road, Cross James is the acting director sportif of team Embrocation as well as the managing partner of Embrocation Cycling Journal. James moved to the Boston area about a year ago from upstate New York and finds the dining options far better and the parking situation far worse. James is a former New York State Road Race Champion and a four time medalist at the Empire State Games.

Colin Murphy aka: The Sandman Colin joins the team for the 2010 road season as a transplant from the Kenda/Spooky team, where he was a key member of their race organization for many years. Colin lives in Somerville, MA and works as a mechanical engineer when he’s not logging insane hours on the trainer.

Jurgen Nebelung Disciplines: Road, Cross Jurgen is team Embrocation’s newest member and has already made quite an impression on us and positive contribution to the team effort. From Portland, Maine Jurgen is a solid all-rounder with impressive skills on the road in everything from crits to road races to time trials. He’s the winner of the 2010 Clam Fest Circuit Race in Yarmouth, ME.

Pierre Vanden Borre aka: PVB PVB is our resident rouleur – a cyclist to the bone in all disciplines. He’s another original member of the cross team and also a member of the illustrious Rapha Continental Team, traveling the country to do rides so nice they should be illegal.

Peter Rubijono aka: Ruby Pete (Rubi) Rubijono has been racing cyclocross for almost 10 years. During the day, Pete works as a mechanic extraordinaire at Harris Cyclery in Newton, MA. Pete has a unique and varied background as a former jet engine specialist in the military and presently as a working artist He’s one of our cyclocross specialists and a truly impressive bike handler.

Kyle Smith aka: The Kyler; Sam the Eagle Whatever nickname you choose, there’s no mistaking Kyle’s unique sense of style and speech. A former professional skateboarder from Kansas, Kyle is one of the most experienced members of the team. When Kyle’s not honing his powerful sprint he’s a vice president at Digitas, a slick marketing firm in Boston that tells us what products we want to buy.

Peter Smith Disciplines: Road, Cross The most experienced member of the team, Pete has been racing a long time in nearly every discipline cycling has to offer. He has extensive experience on the road and cross scenes and if that’s not enough, he’s a coach, bike fitter and the brains behind Mad Alchemy Embrocations, the inspiration for just about everything you see here.

Jackson Weber Disciplines: Road, Cross Another one of our bearded beauties, Jackson is a recent upgrade from the Cat 3 ranks, where he dominated the scene last year. He resides in central Mass where he is a high school English teacher and freelance copywriter. He’s a graduate of Brandeis University.
