We have some new products at the Embrocation store this week.
SOCKS
Our new socks are here and they’re great. We got some samples from this little company, Swiftwick, some time ago and instantly fell in love with their products. Comfy, tight-fitting, fashionable – all the major essentials. We’re told the reason these socks are so great is because of how tightly they’re knit. They use 200 needle construction – quite high by cycling sock standards. Think of this measurement as similar to TPI in bicycle tires – the higher the number, the tighter the knit, the smoother and more pliant the sock is. Regardless of the technology, all we know is these things rock.

We have two socks this time around: our team issue navy blue with white and the reverse – a white sock with blue logos. I thought about getting these in a variety of cuff heights, too, but in the end Jeremy talked me out of it. It went something like this:
Me: These socks are great. We should order some tall ones and some lower ones.
Jeremy: No way!
Me: What, you think that…
Jeremy: Nope. Nope. Gotta have high ones, only high ones. If people don’t like the high ones, we have to educate them accordingly.
Me: Um. Well ok, let’s do it.
So, these new socks all have a 6” compression cuff. The 6” will bring the cuff to just below the calf muscle on most people; the compression of the cuff is significant but not overwhelming and keeps the sock from slipping. Plus, we all know the benefits of compression garments, right? Right.

COTTON CYCLING CAP
We sold a ton of our previous caps. They were ok; just ok. So we upped the bar on these guys. We went with Pace Sportswear – a company well-known for it’s nice caps. This is as simply and functional as they get. It’s a classic cap to be used on or off the bike.

Speaking of off the bike, we brought a bunch of these to the previously mentioned party we co-hosted at Interbike and hung them about the room. Over the course of the night the hats all disappeared. The next day at the show I’d get a kick out of seeing someone random wearing one of our hats. Like this guy:

And this guy with a fine euro style hairstyle:

And this fellow with an impressive beard.

WINTER CYCLING CAP
I’m almost hesitant to bring this one up because it means admitting that the cold crush of winter is coming faster than I’d like to admit. On the other hand, it means cyclocross season is in full swing, plus the hat is a nice piece to have. So, with mixed feelings, here’s our winter cycling cap, which matches the graphics on the rest of our team clothing items. It’s lined with an insulated but breathable fabric, wind stopping material on the front and ear coverings.

GP Gloucester Cross
We’re gearing up for what’s quite possibly the biggest cycling event in New England – the GP Gloucester cyclocross weekend. With more than 1400 registered racers, a couple thousand spectators and some great racing and scenery, we’re really looking forward to participating in this event.
Not only is the team showing up in force, but we’ve also procured some space for Embrocation in the expo area at this race, where we’ll be selling all of our products, including some new stuff that’s not been seen before from us and Mad Alchemy Embrocations, who will be joining us.
Also joining us in our booth will be Lefty’s Silver Cart. This is a mobile food cart business specializing in all natural, gourmet foods made fresh and served hot.

Our buddy Phillip from Lefty’s is going to be serving his signature sandwiches, some high quality coffee, and maybe a Belgian waffle or two. Who knows.
In any case, swing by to check it out. Should be a weekend to remember.

News items, events, new stuff and general goings-on brought to you by the guys and gals behind Embrocation.
