Stage 3 Armagh – Dublin 187km
I think you know the story by this point: our boy Ramon Carretero Mariacq has got this thing on lock so far. Today he wasn’t last on the stage. Not second last either. Third from last? Actually, yes. Michael Hepburn and Cameron Meyer (bouth Austrailian, both Orica Greenedge) were on the same time of +13:39, but listed 195th and 196th respectively.
You already know that means Ramon has extended his ‘lead’ on last place. He’s +23:23 after 3 stages, and the next candidate for Maglia Nera is Michael Hepburn at +19:34. Now they’ll take a rest day (not really, it’s more of a travel day) and get back to business in Italy on Tuesday with a short stage of 112km from Giovinazzo to Bari. Until then, you can watch the Tour of California… though that will be kind of boring Monday anyway, a 20km flat TT.
Trivia footnote: Happy 26th Birthday to Marcel Kittel who picked up his second Giro stage win today, backing up yesterday’s sprint win.
