Summer is here; we’re on the roads and trails more often than not. It’s funny how quickly the threat of a winter that might never end gives way to a summer that seems always to have been, and likely to continue indefinitely. The days are about to start getting shorter again, and on the arid days (few and far between though they are), the dirt calls—distant memory of the squeak of dusty rubber on a well-worn root.
For now, we bask in daylight, and most things can wait. High summer is for living in today.
